My Craft Attempt (Candy Corn Tree)

So a few days ago I came across a Candy Corn Tree craft here on Lolly Jane Boutique's blog. I loved it and figured it was a cute idea and something simple I could use for decoration around the house. In case you didn't know, Halloween is my favorite holiday, but I'm not allowed to put holes in anything :( So here are the step-by-step instructions. It turned out quite well if I do say so myself :)
Gather supplies, you will need a pot or vase with foam, glue gun, branches, candy corn and sticks. (All I bought was the candy corn! Everything else was lying around the house)
Shove Push branches into foam in shape of "tree".
Hot glue candy corn pieces to ends of branches to resemble leaves. Cover green foam with additional candy corn pieces.
I did this outside while the dogs were chewing on my discarded branches.
Oh, and I picked up my box from the post office :) 10 books for $12 shipped off ebay :)

I'm in pain....again!

I am getting sick of my ovaries :( Besides the blinding migraine I've encountered for the last 2 hours, I now feel as though someone is hiding behind me and stabbing me with a knife in my right ovary, ever 17-22 minutes. I left my pain meds at home in an attempt to go med free today and that's a giant NO!
I can not wait to get home and curl up on the couch and take a nap. I have to stop off at the post office and get my books I bought on Ebay, which I'm excited about. I used all my motivation up at work, so I made it almost until 2pm on a Monday, not bad!
Tonight will be a microwave dinner since I am STILL appliance-less. I wish Mr. P would get his butt in gear and get the new appliances installed. He did work all weekend, but still I can not do much without an oven/stove. I'm already sick of eating out. I had planned on taking the dogs for a walk after work, but if my side doesn't get better I'm just gonna tie them to a tree and let them run in circles. They love it outside anyways.
I know I need to hit the gym in a major way. I pay the membership each month, but don't always make it there :( I was much better at working out when I was unemployed and not going to school. I know I'd feel better, but my body has been miserable lately.
Oh and one of the guys at work got his MM card (medical marijuana) and has to show everyone he's "legal" now. I think if you get a MM card you should hand over your license, just because almost everyone I know that has one, well I have yet to find someone that actually needs it. Just sayin'. Ugh, is it time to leave yet?
Oh yeah, I need to make a button. Anyone know where tutorials for that is? Google search, here I come!

Finally a decent weekend!

This weekend was like therapy for me. I seriously did some mega retail therapy, had date night with Mr. P and cleaned! Of course let's not mention how I wanted to bake something and still have no stove :( or that I woke up Sunday morning to find my lovely pups in the middle of tearing up a library book. Or how I woke up from a nap to find them gnawing on my fav college sweatshirt. Also, my phone is having problems sending pictures :(
I did nail down some details for Cookie's birthday. I made invites and made an event on facebook so we will have guests. Although the pups would be happy just to have a single friend over, let alone the 12 (yes, 12!) dogs we are inviting. Here is the picture I got for facebook.
**Alot of treats were needed to obtain the following pose**
Here are the sweet deals I scored at Target and finally got the pictures to the computer!
I decorated the pots and have 2 green and 4 of the white ones. The black bowls have a silver dog bone that says "Feed Me" on them. I got those for a quarter on clearance! I'm just going to send them home with the smaller dogs as favors :) I also have pink bags that I'm going to decorate to say "Doggie Bag". I'm really enjoying being creative.
Here are the pictures of the pups I snapped in the bed yesterday. They are seriously spoiled.
Mr. P spoiled me a little and bought me a couple purses and a new wallet. I don't normally like his tastes, but I kept one of the purses and a wallet. The other purse I told him looked grandma-ish, so he gave it to his Sister-in-Law.
Mr. P took me on a date last night to go with the purses :) We went to the cheap theater (it's $2/per person) cheaper for us to go to the theater than rent a DVD. We saw Despicable Me (cute, but not great) and had Logan's for dinner (I had gift cards). The whole date cost us about $10 :) I have no idea how much the purses/wallet set Mr. P back though.

Shopping til I drop!

I spent the morning shopping (grocery and otherwise). I also stopped off at Tim Horton's and tried their new Carmel Apple Supreme, yummy! I also got a Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte last night so I'm hyped up on caffiene and sugar, yay!!!

I got a picture taken of Cookie wearing her birthday hat which I'm using for the invitations an then I picked up some 75% off clearance dog things from Target to use for the party, Score! I got cute bowls for 25 cents. My camera is loading the pictures to my computer. Guess it will have to wait until tomorrow :(

I also went to the dollar store and picked up a few platters for treats and got some collars there too. The party is coming together quite nice. I visited the Dog bakery last night and her cake is gonna cost around $20 but totally worth it because I know it will be all natrual and fine for the dogs to eat. Also it's going to be shaped like a bone, so cute! I figured we are going to be inviting around 10 dogs and 10-20 people.

Well I know this was short, but that's my update. We might go to the dollar theater tonight so I need to find out what movies are playing. Enjoy the weekend!

Blog Hops and No appliances :(

BoostMyBlogFriday

My Wee View

Well the appliances are gone and the new appliances are....in the garage :( My big baking plan is going to be rescheduled :( Mr. P spent last night with his dad de-venting the microwave. I watched the finale of Top Chef and rearranged my coupons. I still have to watch the premiere of Top Chef: Just Desserts. I love my DVR and would be lost without it.
This weekend I have zero plans. I might go to the mall, I've been talking about Costco for the past week maybe go there. Now that I can't cook, I will probably watch some movies and try and find some microwave recipes (we still have the counter one). I will start on the decorations for cookie's party and send out invitations. I used Mypunchbowl for our last Superbowl party, but turns out alot of my friends and Mr. P's are not internet savvy. So we will be using snail mail for the invitations.
I will probably post a couple posts this weekend since I will be pretty bored.  Look for lots of comments from me! :)

Cookin' in the Kitchen with Pictures!

Last night I got the crafty baking/cooking bug and really wanted to make something, so I made an attempt at Tuna Melt Pie. It was more or less Tuna Quiche and it was so good. Not super filling, but yummy all the same. So I thought this would be a good opportunity to share with my bloggy friends and try out a recipe. Next time, I will pick a recipe that doesn't look so gross when making it. :/ I took pictures through the entire process and the dogs kept getting in the way. Also before I start I'm going to share that last night was the last time I would ever have to use these appliances!!! (When was this color even in style?)

Mr. P got new ones a couple days ago from his cousin. I am beyond excited. Every one of the appliances are minimum 5-10 years older than I am.
Anways, here's the picture of what I wanted to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 6 ounces mushrooms, chopped (I used canned)
  • Four 5-ounce cans tuna, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 6 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

**I did a half recipe for me and Mr. P**

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring often, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until they’ve released and absorbed most of their juices, about 5 minutes.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the tuna and mayonnaise, breaking up the tuna. Stir in the onion mushroom mixture, then stir in two-thirds of the cheese.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, flour and butter; stir into the tuna mixture. Transfer to a 10-inch deep-dish pie pan and bake until browned, about 35 minutes. Top with the remaining cheese and broil until the cheese has melted.

I obviously went overboard with the pictures, but it was fun. I definitely want to bake something this weekend :) Tonight will be my costco trip with Mr. P. And I'm collecting things for Cookie's Birthday! Here is what I have so far.

Hehehehe, I snapped this while she was waiting for her daddy (Mr. P) to get home from work. We have to cover the couch with blankets because the dogs shed so bad :( That was my night.

50th Post!!!

This is my 50th Post! I'm surprised I've made it that far. It seems like it flew by though :) And bonus, I'm in total good mood today. I think I'm gonna go grocery shopping after work and put my coupons to good use (I organized them this morning).
 Pic
I also would like to check out the dog bakery at the local outdoor mall. I want to price out how much Cookie's birthday cake is going to cost and also if I should order the doggie desserts online or get them there. The problem is the ones online at www.etsy.com are way cuter! They make bow-wow-nies and pupcakes :) I have a recipe for the cake, but I don't know a recipe for frosting (doggie approved) and I don't have a bone-shaped pan so I thought the cake would be easier to order. I also have to make the people food for the party, so I will be pretty busy over the next month. I'm glad I'm starting soon because I have lots of time and no school yet :)
I have sesame chicken for lunch from my mom's last night. I went over there and dyed her hair for her and then got home around 9.
Poor dogs. Mr. P has tomorrow off, but of course I work. We will probably make our monthly trip to Costco. I just got their coupons this past week. Oh and I ordered a bunch of books off ebay and now I'll be expecting packages in the mail, yay! I think I ended up paying a total of $12 for around 10 books. The shipping is the expensive part, but I can always resell on ebay or just pass them off to friends :) I gotta figure out how to get into an online book club. Anyone have any ideas???
